Artist Session
PLATFORM x Bayerische Staatsoper
Sandra Bejarano | Jasmine Ellis | Moonjoo Kim | Alessandro Giorgi | Erica D’Amico
With Human-in-the-loop, the visual and performing arts come together in an experimental format. Across three artist sessions, the project creates an open space for improvisation, perception and collaborative exploration. Artists from different disciplines work together to shape a programme centred on the question of how visual art forms can be translated into movement, voice, and physical expression. New forms of dialogue develop between body, sound, and visual impulses – within a safe space, in a relaxed atmosphere, and open to spontaneity.
The project is part of the Bayerische Staatsoper’s <30 OPEN LAB and is open to everyone aged 16 and over, free of charge, regardless of prior experience or artistic background.

ABout the Artists
Sandra Bejarano x Jasmine Ellis – Tuesday, 16 June 2026
Cranko Studio, Platzl 7, 2nd Floor, 80331 Munich
Sandra Bejarano (*1991, Madrid) is a Spanish artist currently based in Munich. Her work addresses issues related to the female body through performance and installation. By incorporating unconventional materials – such as blood, fingernails, vaginal fluid, among others – her exhibitions explore the limits of shame and aesthetics. These materials are presented in a sterile and visually appealing manner, aiming to challenge and destigmatize taboos surrounding corporeality, sex and gender in contemporary Western culture.
As a director and choreographer, Jasmine Ellis crafts with a voice both familiar and deeply vulnerable. She invites us to discover the extraordinary in the everyday human experience. Her creations—encompassing dance, language, music, and film—are interwoven with her insightful, dry humor. With her remarkable ability to attract extraordinary artists, Jasmine Ellis’s projects foster collaborations that unveil the vast tapestry of life, encouraging us to view our shared existence from a multitude of perspectives across global societies. Her films and stage productions, widely acclaimed, captivate and engage. Whether through intimate collaborations or large-scale theatrical endeavors, they consistently delve into the profound nuances of our shared humanity.
Moonjoo Kim – Tuesday, 30 June 2026
T29 – dance space, Isabellastraße 14, 80798 Munich
Moonjoo Kim (*1998, Seoul) is a Germany-based freelance dancer and performer with a background in Korean traditional dance and movement notation. Her work bridges tradition and contemporary performance through delicate, minimalist movement, drawing, and sensitive bodily expression.
Alessandro Giorgi x Erica D’Amico – Tuesday, 14 July 2026
Cranko Studio, Platzl 7, 2nd Floor, 80331 Munich
Alessandro Giorgi (*1989, Castelvetrano) is a visual artist with a background in architecture, based between Munich, Germany, and Torretta Granitola, a small fishing village on the southwest coast of Sicily. Working across canvas, works on paper, room installations and animation, he explores drawing as a form of visual storytelling across a broad spectrum of media. Like an island connected to everything through the sea, his work seeks to link seemingly divided elements, revealing networks of transformation and interaction that shape ecosystems and contemporary life.
Erica D’Amico (*1995, Trapani) is working as a freelance dancer, performer and choreographer in Germany since 2019. She studied ballett dance at Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome, and contemporary dance at the Iwanson International School of Contemporary Dance in Munich. After her graduation in 2019 she collaborated with choreographers like Dustin Klein for various productions. Her work has been presented at institutions and festivals including Hamburgische Staatsoper, at Origen Festival Cultural in Switzerland, for Shirin Neshat at the prestigious Salzburg Festspiele, and at Bayerische Staatsoper.
