As of 8 November, three new projects will be launched at Nordfriedhof, Petuelring and Josephsplatz!

Janina Totzauer and Sebastian Quast will be launching the “Passierschein A39” project at Nordfriedhof. At Josephsplatz, Klaus Erika Dietl and Stephanie Müller make a mark with “metro membran / Kiosk Bioskop“. And Jovana Banovic will present her work “Metromorphose” at the kiosk on Petuelring. Paula Leal Olloqui will also be showing new motifs from her neighbourhood research at the kiosk in Messestadt Ost.

Since September 2023, artistic projects have been reinvigorating kiosks at numerous Munich underground stations in various ways. Originally conceived as commercial locations, these kiosks stood empty for a long time due to planned construction work and increased safety and fire protection requirements. Stadtwerke München has released ten kiosks for artistic projects until the refurbishments are completed at the respective locations.

These places offer art for those in a hurry, waiting, wandering and passing by. They also create space for urban research, all while promoting a dialogue between artists and residents. By breaking away from traditional museum exhibition concepts, KUNST KIOSKE gives places that previously lay unnoticed a new appreciation and brings art into the centre of society. The works on display, some of which were developed especially for this location, are as diverse as their creators, with the medium and style varying from kiosk to kiosk.

You can look forward to exciting new interpretations of the kiosks on Josephsplatz, Nordfriedhof and Petuelring, which will shine with fresh art from 8 November 2023.
