kunstkioske
Opening on September 20, 3:30 p.m.
City-wide display of art in vacant Newsstands in underground stations in cooperation with BBK Muc and Obb and SWM
Originally conceived as commercial places to meet demand, the newsstands, or kiosks, as they are called in Germany, at numerous Munich underground stations are now empty due to planned construction work and increased safety and fire protection requirements. Until the refurbishments are carried out at the respective locations, Stadtwerke München has made available ten stands at the stations “Brudermühlstraße, Hasenbergl, Josephsburg, Josephsplatz, Messestadt Ost, Michaelibad, Nordfriedhof, Quiddestraße, Petuelring” and “Schwanthalerhöhe” for artistic projects.
PLATFORM München and the Berufsverband Bildender Künstler München und Oberbayern e.V. (BBK) are jointly conceiving and realising the project. The Cultural Department of the City of Munich and the Competence Team Cultural and Creative Industries promote and support the project.
The patroness of the project is the second Mayor of Munich, Katrin Habenschaden.
