How to Build a Home – A group exhibition exploring the concept of “home” as a place, a feeling and a web of relationships

Exhibition period: 11th – 24th September 2026; Opening: 10th September 2026
Venue: Exhibition spaces of PLATFORM at the Tumblinger Creative Hub
Submission deadline: 5th April 2026

This open call addresses artists who engage with the many dimensions and emotional
layers of “home” from different perspectives and reflect on them in their artistic practice.
What memories, desires, and emotions are associated with the idea of home? How do
our notions of it shift in light of current challenges?
The exhibition seeks to open up spaces for creative imagination and dialogue. We
invite artists to explore “home” in all its emotional, social, and physical dimensions, and
to imagine new possibilities for how we want to live together.

Conditions of participation:

We invite applications from freelance visual artists

  • who engage with the theme or feeling of “home” through diverse artistic
    perspectives, media, and conceptual approaches (painting, photography,
    video art, drawing, performance, etc.)
  • who can demonstrate a professional exhibition record and provide a
    corresponding portfolio
  • whose place of work or primary residence is within the Munich S-Bahn
    metropolitan area

Applications are accepted exclusively in digital form in the first stage. The file size must
not exceed 5 MB.

Please note: selected artists will need to bring their work to PLATFORM themselves.

Selection Process:

The selection will be made by an internal jury. Applicants will be notified of the results
by approximately 30th April 2026.
