Gwangju Biennale – Publication launch
Gwangju Biennale – Publication launch
The publication “in between water – 두물마을” accompanies the exhibition in the first German pavilion at the Gwangju Biennale in South Korea. In addition to a comprehensive photo documentation and a detailed project description, it also includes an interview by Teresa Retzer with the artists of the Longega Project collective and an essay by Annekathrin Kohout.
Our aim on the evening of the publication launch is to bring the experiences of the biennial to Munich and give everyone who was unable to be there a lively insight into the project. The programme includes an artist talk with the artists of Longega Project – Fabian Feichter, Youlee Ku, Siyoung Kim, Nele Ka and Oliver Haussmann – and Christian Landspersky, director of PLATFORM, moderated by Sophie Slade.
The discussion will focus on the exhibition in the German pavilion as well as the time in South Korea and the challenges of realising a national pavilion at an international biennial.
On this evening, we will also be exclusively presenting the Special Edition of the first German pavilion at the 15th Gwangju Biennale 2024. The artists of the Longega Project have each developed a seven-part series of works in which they express the ‘seven elements’ of the exhibition – forest, hut, campfire, river, searching & collecting, workshop – in their individual artistic language.
Additional programme
The evening will conclude with a musical performance by franz allein, who performed at the opening of the exhibition in Gwangju with the group Kunststoffwerkstatt and Hwang Mi Yuong.
