New Release: Booklet “Kunst Kioske”

Publication

This publication offers a retrospective on the public art project “Kunst Kioske,” which from September to December set a creative counterpoint to the vacancy levels in the Munich subway. At 10 different locations across the city, aesthetic installations repurposed the mezzanine floor into an open exhibition venue without entrance fees or official opening hours. The present brochure documents the experiences made during the organization process, be it the bureaucratic challenges faced in the context of such temporary re-uses of public domains or the myriad encounters with curious passers-by inquiring into the possible meanings of such a “Kunst Kiosk.” In any case, the project marks a supra-regional novelty that has put the underground station on the map as a potential artspace and social meeting place.
